They say that if a pigeon finds a new route from a certain place to another, it is easier for the next pigeon to find that same route. Even though the two pigeons would not have had any contact to each other. But what is a new route for a pigeon? All the routes in the sky are straight. There is not any maps or routes in the world of the pigeon, only straight lines and points where they end.
The world of the carrier pigeon consists only of one point and infinity of lines that end in the one point. That one point is the home of the pigeon, and at the same time it is the place where it delivers the message. Somebody must take the pigeon away from it’s home for it to be able to return with a message. And the message that is delivered, you cannot answer it. Unless, of course, the message came from a home of another set of pigeons, and there is a pigeon waiting to get back home.
Here is two opposite models of communication. In the first instance, the communication happens on it’s own accord, and even without the participants being aware of it. It is the collective unconsciousness that guides the pigeons. In the second instance the communication has the most private form you can imagine. You cannot even answer the message.

Aavistukset-ryhmänäyttely tuo yhteen 14 taiteilijaa ja 3 vaihtoehtoista, voittoa tavoittelematonta näyttelytilaa Helsingissä.

Olli Keräsen, Maija Luutosen ja Laura Wesamaan kokoamana syntynyt Aavistukset on jatkoa taiteilijoiden Vallilan Hetekatehtaalla Marraskuussa 2007 järjestämälle Hyvät Työt näyttelylle.

”Silloin yhteistyö lähti liikkeelle hyvän työn tekemisestä, halusimme tuoda yhteen hyviä töitä ja samalla tehdä hyvin itsellemme, arvostamillemme taiteilijoille ja tietysti myös yleisölle. Nyt olemme jälleen koonneet taiteilijoita, jotka ovat tehneet meihin vaikutuksen. Yhteistä kaikille näyttelyyn osallistuville on korkealaatuinen taiteellinen työskentely sekä kiinnostava lähestymistapa taiteen tekemiseen yleensä. Lisäksi halusimme tehdä uudelleen yhteisnäyttelyn, johon olisi hienoa osallistua ja jonka haluaisimme itsekin nähdä. Aavistukset on syntynyt varsin luonnollisella tavalla. Lähdimme jälleen liikkeelle etsien parasta mahdollista yhdistelmää; esityspaikkoja, taiteilijoita ja yleisöä. Valitsemamme taiteilijat tuntuivat kaikki käsittelevän tavalla tai toisella loppua, viimeisiä aikoja, hajoamista ja apokalyptisia tunnelmia. Teema syntyi siis luonnollisesti: se oli jo ilmassa. ”

Premonitions brings together 14 artists and 3 alternative non-profit exhibition spaces in Helsinki.

Selected and organized by Olli Keränen, Maija Luutonen and Laura Wesamaa Aavistukset is continuation to the exhibition ”Good Deeds” held at the Old Heteka factory in Vallila November 2007.

”The collaboration originated from a wish to bring together good works and do something good for ourselves and naturally, also, to the viewers. We return with a new group of artists that have impressed us with their interesting approach to making art, not to mention the high quality of their artistic practice. The exhibition came about in a very natural way. Once again we began by thinking of the best possible combination of exhibition spaces, artists and public. The chosen artists seemed all, in one way or the other, to be dealing with endings, last times, deconstruction and apocalyptic atmospheres. The theme felt like it was already in the air.”

1.11.2008 avautuneessa näyttelyssä heitämme “Kevyet Mullat” paikan aiemmalle toiminnalle sellaisena kuin se on tullut tutuksi ja esittelemme tilan lisäksi itsemme. Näyttely on auki 22.11. saakka to-su klo 12.00-18.00
