Flies in My Eyes is a work about fragile embodiment and the disturbances that shape self-perception and intimacy. The exhibition takes its title from the visual effect of so-called “floaters”: the tiny specks that drift across vision when looking at the sky. Just as floaters are persistent and impossible to ignore, both childhood and generational trauma, as well as insecure attachment patterns continue to interrupt experiences of closeness, desire, and connection.

In Lahja Kotov’s work, personal experiences are combined with an autotheoretical approach. Together they become material for narratives that speak both to a lived-out trans life and to broader questions of attachment and survival.

In Oksasenkatu 11 she will present a new video art work that is soundtracked by an on-location kinetic sound sculpture.
