Häkkinen ja Sirkka tekevät MERIHAKAMATKA KAKSI -festivaaleille lyhyen performanssin, joka on heille itselleenkin yllätys. Siihen kuuluu ainakin auto, kaksi karannutta morsianta, likaa, hidasta vauhtia ja liian suuria tunteita.


Sofi Häkkinen on Oulussa syntynyt ja Helsingissä asuva kuvataiteilija. Hän työskentelee kuvanveiston ja performanssin parissa ,sekä monitaiteisen Recover Laboratory -kollektiivin taiteellisena johtajana. Häkkisellä on kaksi taiteenmaisterintutkintoa: Kuvataideakatemiasta ja Aalto-yliopistosta. Häkkiselle rakkaita teemoja ovat mm. pop, nostalgia, kauhu, huumori, kuolema, sentimentaalisuus ja kitsch, ja hänen taiteellisessa työssään tärkeää on queer-ajattelu ja -tekeminen, rehellisyys motiiveista ja materiaaleista, intuition vapaus sekä teemojen ja materiaalien kieroutunut rinnastus. Suuret dramaattiset eleet ja arjesta nousevat kliseet camp-sävyin osoittavat, että turhuus ja tärkeys voivat olla läsnä samassa hetkessä.


Miradonna Sirkka (1991) on nykytaiteilija, ohjaaja ja esiintyjä. Taideteokset ovat monialaisia sekoituksia esitystaiteesta, performanssista, installaatiosta, videosta, äänistä ja mediataiteesta. Inspiraatio nousee nautinnosta, suurista tunteista ja huippusalaisimmista ajatuksista, ihmiskontaktista ja arkipäiväisestä kiusallisuudesta. Muovisuus, pohjoinen mäntymetsä, femmeys ja romanttisuus näkyvät teoksissa, joiden estetiikka on muovista: jokainen yksityiskohta on yliharkittu, sitten kastettu limaiseen sokerikulhoon ja vedetty sieltä ulos inhorealistisesti. Miradonna on valmistunut Turun AMK:sta sirkustaiteilijaksi sekä Aalto Yliopistosta Visual Culture and Curating Contemporary Art-linjalta taiteen maisteriksi. Miradonna on Recover Laboratory monitaidekollektiivin perustaja ja toinen taiteellinen johtaja. Miradonnan ja Recover Laboratoryn teoksia on nähty sekä kotimaassa että kansainvälisesti aina underground tapahtumista ja jättimäisille esiintymislavoille.

Häkkinen and Sirkka present a short performance for MERIHAKAMATKAT KAKSI —one that will be as much of a surprise to themselves as to the audience. It will involve, at the very least, a car, two runaway brides, dirt, slow speed, and emotions that are far too big.


Sofi Häkkinen is a visual artist born in Oulu and based in Helsinki. She works with sculpture and performance and serves as the Artistic Director of the multidisciplinary collective Recover Laboratory. Häkkinen holds two Master's degrees in the arts, one from the Academy of Fine Arts and another from Aalto University. Themes close to her heart include pop culture, nostalgia, horror, humour, death, sentimentality, and kitsch. Central to her artistic practice are queer thinking and making, honesty about motivations and materials, the freedom of intuition, and the twisted juxtaposition of themes and materials. Grand dramatic gestures and everyday clichés, infused with a camp sensibility, reveal how the trivial and the profound can coexist in the same moment.


Miradonna Sirkka (b. 1991) is a contemporary artist, director, and performer. Her works are multidisciplinary blends of live art, performance, installation, video, sound, and media art. They draw inspiration from pleasure, overwhelming emotions, the most secret thoughts, human encounters, and the everyday awkwardness of life. Plasticity, northern pine forests, femme aesthetics, and romance are recurring elements in works whose visual language is unmistakably synthetic: every detail is meticulously considered, then dipped into a bowl of sticky sugar and pulled back out with unapologetic hyperrealism. Miradonna graduated as a circus artist from Turku University of Applied Sciences and holds a Master's degree in Visual Culture and Curating Contemporary Art from Aalto University. She is the founder and Co-Artistic Director of the multidisciplinary collective Recover Laboratory. Works by Miradonna and Recover Laboratory have been presented both in Finland and internationally, ranging from underground events to large-scale performance stages.
